Dorian the Scholar

Original Pastel Painting • 12 × 18 inches

Refined, contemplative, and touched with old-world charm, Dorian the Scholar is an original 12 × 18-inch pastel painting from The Mourning Menagerie.

Rendered entirely by hand in soft pastel, Dorian’s richly detailed portrait captures the clever, inquisitive nature of the fox, surrounded by the dark Victorian atmosphere and storybook character that define the series.

The original artwork is professionally presented in an ornate frame, set behind UV-protective glass to help preserve the depth and richness of the pastel, and finished with acid-free matboard for archival protection.

This is the one-of-a-kind original painting, not a reproduction, making it a distinctive statement piece for collectors drawn to gothic interiors, Victorian-inspired art, foxes, and the beautifully mysterious.

Details: • Original hand-drawn soft pastel painting • Artwork size: 12 × 18 inches • Ornate decorative frame • UV-protective glass • Acid-free matboard • Signed by the artist • One of a kind

The Mourning Menagerie originals are intentionally dark and atmospheric, with subtle details designed to emerge from the shadows. For the best viewing experience, I recommend displaying the artwork in a well-lit area or under dedicated picture lighting. In dim rooms, some of the darker details may appear more subdued.

Photos are edited to accurately represent the artwork, but appearance may vary slightly depending on room lighting and screen brightness.
